Caregiver Responsibilities
Caregiver duties depend on the participant’s service plan and approved needs.
Responsibilities may include:
- Helping with bathing and personal hygiene
- Assisting with dressing and grooming
- Providing mobility and walking support
- Preparing simple meals
- Completing light housekeeping
- Washing and folding laundry
- Shopping and running errands
- Supporting daily household routines
- Providing companionship
- Accompanying participants to approved activities
- Observing and reporting relevant changes
- Following the participant’s service plan
- Communicating with families and agency staff
- Protecting the participant’s privacy and dignity
Leading Edge Home Health Care provides non-medical services. Caregivers do not perform medical or nursing duties unless they are separately qualified, authorized, and assigned through an appropriate service arrangement.

Previous caregiving experience may be helpful. Applicants should provide accurate information about their training, employment history, and qualifications.
Background Screening and Employment Requirements
Working inside a participant’s home requires a high level of trust.
Personnel are subject to background screening, including FBI checks and cross-checking through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, as applicable to the position and governing requirements.
Applicants may also need to provide information or documents related to:
- Identity and employment authorization
- Relevant work experience
- Professional references
- Caregiving certifications or training
- Driver’s license, if driving is required
- Reliable transportation, if required
- Current availability
- Preferred work locations
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
